The Golden Dressmaker
,This is a fantastic vintage pattern drafting book. A must have treasure for those whom who collect or love drafting their own patterns with a vintage flair. The book is Titled The Golden Dressmaker, ” Fashion Patterns easily for you and all the family”. There is 274 patterns that can be made up – the book tells you everything on how to measure and to draw out the patterns to the needed size.
I cannot seem to find anywhere in the book exactly when it was written my guess is anywhere between the 50’s . This is loosely based on the Lutterloh system, I believe – you get a special ruler that you stick to a measuring tape and use it to enlarge the small-scale patterns enclosed. Actual measuring tape not enclosed, but there is a copy within the book. this set originally came in a box with postcards of each design. Most of the sets you find you only find the book.
Lovely book. You take your whole body measurements. then you hand tailor the pattern to your exact curves by using the diagram 7 special tape measure, where can you do that today….?
